- Résumé
Angelica Tadena accepted a job offer from North Vancouver’s Palki Restaurant in late 2012, and arrived in Canada a year later, after the restaurant owner helped her obtain a Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) work permit.
However, after showing up on her first day of work, she was told by an immigration agency that the restaurant now wouldn’t be employing her – but wasn’t given a reason why.
It took Tadena four months to find another job, and she suffered “suffered significant fear, uncertainty, and financial hardship” in the meantime, a judge in the Provincial Court of British Columbia has found.
