Group 92 was founded by concerned Richmond residents in 1982. Since then the Richmond Group has engaged in many activities.
Three times we have hosted the annual meeting for groups in BC and the Yukon.
At our monthly meetings guests from around the world have spoken about human rights issues in many countries. Alex Neve, secretary general of Amnesty International Canadian Section (English Speaking) spoke at one of our meetings.
We have worked on appeals for specific prisoners and participated in many campaigns such as the campaign against torture, the indigenous peoples campaign, and the Stop Violence Against Women campaign.
We have organised tag days, dinners, walkathons, meetings with local politicians, presentations in schools, at churches and service clubs and displays in malls.
Every year Group 92 holds events that help to raise public awareness of Amnesty International work. We have displays in the library, a candlelight vigil on December 10th (Human Rights Day), a writeathon, etc.
