What We’ve Done

Since 2009 S.A.M.E has visited over 100 different schools, community groups, schools, campuses, school groups conducting information workshops, spreading S.A.M.E’s message.
We have partnered with various school groups in projects such as Charity fundraisers, bike drives, volunteer/outreach programs, ESL video creation, Artist Against Migrant Exploitation, mural paintings etc etc.
Our work is never ending, and we hope you will join us for the upcoming year in which we have much more events, and projects upcoming.

Who We Are

The name does not say it all. Although a large portion of our members are students, S.A.M.E works with people of all ages regardless of whether they are students or not. We have teachers, academics, community members, unions, community groups involved in different facets of S.A.M.E
After all variety is the spice of life!

Where We Are

Wherever there are students S.A.M.E will be. We currently have S.A.M.E members active in over 30 campuses in Canada and are always growing.
We volunteer at the Agricultural Workers Alliance Assistance centers, which are funded and operated by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

History

Students Against Migrant Exploitation was birthed in 2009 by a small group of students from the University of Carleton and Brock University, who became very interested in migrant worker issues. Consequently, they organized two separate events where they invited any students on campus interested in learning more about migrant workers to attend.
With an impressive turn out at both events, both groups were ratified campus groups. Since those two events, S.A.M.E and S.A.M.E representatives have travelled throughout Canada sharing the often untold truths about migrant workers and their experiences.
S.A.M.E has travelled to, spoken at, conducted workshops for teachers, students, organizations, community groups across Canada and will continue to do so for years to come.
