2014.04.12 to 2014.04.13, all-day
You research or write about immigration, or work with newcomers. Or you like to code for fun and want to put your skills to use exploring an important subject: who's coming to Canada, how are they faring and what more can we do to help them succeed? Grab a friend and join us for Datafest Ottawa: Hacking Migration in the Capital on April 12 & 13.
Datafest Ottawa is a two-day collaborative blitz. We’re bringing diverse expertise together to brainstorm ways for data and technology to shed light on challenges in migration. That could mean developing app ideas to help new arrivals to Canada, exploring policy questions through data, or using design expertise to tell a story about migration through maps or graphics. You could be a settlement worker, a programmer, a journalist or just curious. Best of all, you don't have to be tech-savvy to come to Datafest. All you need is enthusiasm, energy and an open mind.
Working on a diverse team in the beautiful Klondike Room of sponsor Adobe Canada, in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy, you'll make new connections and learn new skills. We'll have tech mentors and helpful workshops. Thanks to our sponsors Adobe and Pythian, there will be great food and snacks to keep you fuelled up.
