Bringing Migrants' Voices to the UNHLD on Migration & Development
In October 2013, governments will meet in New York City for the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly. On this year's docket is a special UN High Level Dialogue on Migration & Development—the second of its kind. It will take place October 3 – 4 at the UN in New York.
As an international coalition of migrant associations, migrants' rights organizations and advocates, trade unions, faith groups, and academia the Global Coalition on Migration is organizing activities and actions in the lead-up to and during the UNHLD.
We will challenge governments inside the UNHLD process—bringing migrants' voices into this exclusive forum to push our agenda of human rights, justice, and respect for all migrant workers and members of their families. We will also take our message to the streets, to educate the public about the challenges we face in our communities every day.
